What should I expect? As a physio I would like to know what your injury or pain is, and when it began. I will ask a timeline and information about how it started and how it came on, but also what you have tried in your treatment so far (please don’t worry if you’ve not been able to try anything!). I will ask you a number of questions to assess whether the issue is to do with the muscle, the joints, or the nerve. It is likely that we will talk about your physical activity levels, but also your life and general day to day activities too. This helps me understand you as a person, and also how we can shape a treatment plan to fit you the best. I will then assess you, as appropriate to the injury you arrive with and then we will make a treatment plan.

What is sports massage, and what should I expect? Sports massage can be helpful to release tension in the muscles anywhere around the body. During sports massage there can be some pressure, but you shouldn’t feel like you are in pain during the treatment. I hope this puts your mind at ease. The muscle will be warmed up with light massage, and then if it is necessary there will be further trigger point pressure applied. This will be different for each client and treatment session.

What shall I wear? Just wear comfortable clothes and if the injury is something in the lower limb perhaps wear some shorts.

Online classes, what should I expect? The Zoom link will be on the Spaces app linked with my website, and it will also be in the booking email. Just log on 2 minutes before and then we will get going when the class starts. Once the class starts I cannot let anyone in late. Please make sure you have a mat, water and weights wherever applicable. If you have any questions please ask Becky beforehand via email. If you develop any new injuries you can also let Becky know.

What is included in your strength plan? Becky will write a bespoke plan specific to you based upon your needs, previous injuries, and what your goals are. The strength plan is perfect to add in alongside your normal activities (e.g. running/cycling), and it is also great to develop functional fitness. This would be the perfect addition to get you back from injury to normal activity levels too. The £70 that you pay will provide you with; a 45-60 minute assessment and goal setting session with Becky (via Zoom or face to face in Cambridge). Once this has been completed Becky will provide you with a google document with your plan on it. You can fill in this google document as you move through the month, and provide feedback and an activity log for yourself and for Becky to review. Becky will text you each week to check in and see how you are doing too. The exercises will be listed and videos and teaching points also provided. These will be either via the PhysioTools app or Whatsapp video. You can repeat this process whenever you wish. I have some people that have a new strength plan each month (particularly helpful when returning to activity from an injury) and I coach these people very closely. I also have people that come every 2-3 months just to renew their training plan and change the focus a little bit. For example the strength plan might start with basic movement patterning, and move onto balance or agility work, and then perhaps some power or plyometrics work too!
